Pioneer House have been working on the development of their on-site café, with the intention of creating a space that can be enjoyed by the local community.  Due to open later this term  ‘Strawberry Fox Café’ will enhance the school’s curriculum offer, providing students with a real life working environment where they are able to develop transferable employability skills and valuable life skills.

The team are working with Digital Advantage, offering ten Key Stage 4 and 5 students the opportunity to begin the process of developing the project as an enrichment programme.  Digital Advantage is an award-winning charity that delivers innovative work experiences to young people of all ages and abilities and have worked with Pioneer House for a number of years.  The charity will work with students enabling them to develop digital technology skills as they create branding for the café, which will appeal to and engage with the local community.  Once the café is up and running, local community groups will use the space as a ‘hub’ for meetings and events.  Students will continue to benefit from the café, working and managing the day-to-day operation, developing further skills in hospitality and catering.

In the future, Pioneer House hopes to run an intergenerational digital project which will support those in the local community who wish to develop IT skills and improve their computer literacy.

We will share updates on the café and the official opening after the October half term holiday.
